Common questions
01Should I choose a complete Local AI Server or an AI Boot Drive?
Short answer

Choose a complete server when you want selbsai to supply, configure, test, and deliver the whole system. Choose the €149 net AI Boot Drive when you already own a supported x86-64 PC with at least 16 GB RAM and 512 GB internal storage. We verify the exact host and match the local runtime and open-weight models before preparing either route.

02What hardware do I need to use a SelbsAI Server?
Short answer

Only a computer with a browser on the same local network. The SelbsAI Server already includes its own processor, DDR5 memory, encrypted NVMe storage, operating system, AI software, and models.

03Which server should I choose?
Short answer

Choose Sai Core Server for one or two users and everyday tasks with 7B–14B models. Choose Sai Pro Server for more users, larger 14B–32B models, longer documents, and more demanding work.

03

04

What if the server loses power?

The system uses a controlled shutdown process and keeps your work in separate storage with recovery checks. Keep a current encrypted backup in case the hardware is lost or damaged.

05

Does selbsai require a cloud account?

No. The core product is designed to run locally on the device without relying on a closed-model API to function.

02

Setup & daily use

Provisioning, local access and team use.

06

What kinds of work is selbsai actually good for?

Local AI is particularly useful for drafting, searching documents, multilingual assistance, private questions and answers, and work with internal knowledge.

07

Do I need to install models or manage Linux myself?

No. The server arrives configured with the appropriate AI software, models, and features already installed.

08

What happens if I choose file preparation?

After payment, you receive a secure upload link. We use the agreed files only to prepare your system, which arrives with those documents already indexed.

09

How is this different from paying for cloud AI?

With cloud AI, you rent access. With SelbsAI, you own and control the local system that processes your files.

10

How do I use the local interface?

Open selbsai.local in a browser on the same network. The customer portal stays separate and holds your order documents, support, file preparation, and handover records.

03

Capability & limits

Workloads, quality and cloud comparison.

11

Can several people use one system?

Yes, if the hardware and setup are suitable for shared use. Smaller devices are best for one person; larger devices are better for teams and more demanding tasks.

12

Can it help with software coding?

Yes. Coding assistance can be selected in the configurator so the setup includes the right local model and tooling expectations.

13

Can it review documents and draft emails?

Yes. These are common uses for local AI. You get the best results when your documents and the necessary background information are well prepared.

14

Is it as capable as the best cloud models?

Not always. Local models can be useful, private, and fast, but leading online systems may still perform better on the most difficult reasoning, image, audio, and automated tasks.

04

Updates & support

Maintenance, delivery and recovery.

15

What exactly do you install?

We install the local AI software, selected models, local interface, and tools required for your configuration. We do not install hidden remote access or an undisclosed dependency on online AI.

16

How are model updates handled?

The configurator lets you choose stable, balanced, or faster updates. Changes are made deliberately because a new model can affect quality, speed, and compatibility.

17

How long does preparation take?

Timing depends on hardware availability, the number of files to prepare, and quality checks. The customer portal shows progress from payment to delivery.

18

What if something goes wrong after delivery?

The customer portal, direct human support, and a guide to your first steps are part of the product. You receive a usable system, not a technical experiment.

Still unresolved?

Ask a person, not a chatbot.

Send your user count and intended workload. Support will answer with a concrete Core or Pro recommendation.
